Cooperation Cards:

Each group has a “cooperation” card.  When I see the children making good choices, being kind to others, following directions, using teamwork, and abiding by the Cheetah Expectations, I punch a hole on one of the letters in “cooperation.”  The children earn rewards when they receive hole punches for the entire word.

Flip Chart:

As part of the grade-level discipline plan, all second grade teachers have a flip chart. I always begin by accentuating positive behavior with the cooperation cards, but if a student does not follow our rules, his/her card will be “flipped” to the next color. This is done throughout the grade-level, so the cards in homeroom at the end of the day will reflect your child’s behavior in every subject, regardless of what classroom he/she was in at the time.

The order of the cards is: GREENYELLOWORANGERED

Parents: Your child’s behavior will be recorded in his/her agenda. Please check the agenda each day, sign it, and return it the next day. I would be greatly appreciative if you could discuss the behavior color with your child at home. Please congratulate and encourage positive behavior, and remind your child why it is important to follow the classroom and school procedures if necessary.

I Got Caught Stickers:

If I see a child behaving especially well, he or she will receive an “I Got Caught.”  All children who receive these will be eligible for rewards, including a school-wide prize giveaway and Lunch With Friends!

Parents: When you see your child wearing an “I Got Caught” sticker, please help encourage the good behavior by asking how the sticker was earned.

Top Dog:

Each week, one child from each second grade classroom receives the “Top Dog” award. This child is recognized during a weekly assembly.

Parents: This is a special award given to only one student in each class per week, and it is not guaranteed for every child in the class. When you see your child with this award, please encourage the excellent behavior!
